The helpful staff can arrange for transportation to the local sights by coach or horse-drawn carriage. The hotel is located in the picturesque village of Maienfeld, a 2 minute walk from the Maienfeld train station; it is also convenient to European route E43/the A13 motorway. Maienfeld is the heart of the tourist area sometimes called Heidiland, and it is the home of the attraction called Heidi’s Village. More authentic historic sights include Brandis Castle, surrounded by vineyards, and Salenegg Castle. Nearby St. Luzisteig Pass connects Maienfeld with the village of Balzers in Liechtenstein. On the opposite side of the A13 motorway is the spa town of Bad Ragaz, home of the Heidiland Golf Club, the Bad Ragaz Golf Club, and the ruins of the Freudenberg Castle.
