This hotel is a modern building in the little village of Laugarvatn in Southern Iceland. Laugarvatn is close to a lake and offers a beautiful environment and spectacular Icelandic countryside to admire and explore. The hotel has 99 rooms. 67 rooms have a washbasin in the room and shared bathroom facilities. 32 rooms are en suite with shower. All rooms are furnished in the traditional, simple, minimalist, Scandinavian style. The hotel's restaurant has a capacity of 200 people. The hotel offers comfortable accommodation at good value prices, deep in the heart of the countryside of south Iceland. The town is also within easy reach of many of the principal attractions of the region, such as Gullfoss waterfall, the Geysir hot springs, the old parliamentary site at Þingvellir and Skalholt Cathedral. Laugarvatn is a small village of about 170 inhabitants. During term time the population swells, as Laugarvatn is an educational centre. As well as schools for children in the surrounding area, Laugarvatn is also the base for the sports faculty of the Iceland University of Education. The nearby lake offers sailing and windsurfing, while golf, horse riding and trout fishing are also available in the area. The area is also excellent for hiking and a map of local walking routes is available at the hotel. Vigðalaug (Sacred Pool) at Laugarvatn is a geothermal spring which is reputed to have healing powers. Laugarvatn offers a beautiful environment for visitors to enjoy, with wonderful Icelandic countryside to admire and explore.
