Pension Waldoase Hirschbuchenkopf is a former summer camp that has been extensively renovated to provide a high level of comfort and service to those visiting the Harz Mountains. Guests can play volleyball and other outdoor sports, table tennis, or a game of chess on the giant outdoor chess board. Groups can meet in 2 indoor club rooms and the large hall. The guest house’s restaurant provides meals, breakfast supplies, snacks, and catering for events. Families can use the outdoor barbecues to grill their food. The staff rents bicycles and arranges for mountain guides to lead hikes or mushrooming trips. Outside the town of Guntersberge, Pension Waldoase Hirschbuchenkopf is within walking distance of Selketal Nature Reserve (Naturschutzgebiet Selketal), in the eastern Harz Mountains. Kids may enjoy a stop in Guntersberge to see the Mousetrap Museum and Museum of Curiosities (Mausefallenmuseum und Kuriositatenmuseum). Approx. 15 km/9.3 miles to the east of Guntersberge is the larger town of Harzgerode, which has an outdoor swimming pool. Harz National Park is less than a 1 hour drive to the west.
