The hotel, originally built as a monastery, is considered today an artistic and cultural heritage of Italy, a true national treasure. Designed by Michelangelo, it has been restored keeping intact many architectural details, such as the small and sturdy wooden doors and the metal locks of the monks cells. All rooms, large sized, are decorated with light creamy colours and elegantly furnished while respecting the sobriety of the monastic tradition, with inlaid chests, austere chairs and terracotta floors. Portraits of monks campsite on the walls of the corridors, furnished with antiques. The wall fresco depicting the Last Supper stands in what was once the refectory of the monastery, now the hotel restaurant.
