Situated between the Aravali and the Vindhya mountain ranges, visitors will discover Oberoi Vanyavilas, Ranthambore (India) set on 20 acres of landscaped gardens, lakes and fountains. Nearby Ranthambore National Park and Tiger Reserve is home to tigers, deer, leopards and crocodiles. The resort offers jungle safaris and elephant rides. A 52-foot-high observation tower affords a bird's eye view of the park and its wildlife. For a change of pace from the jungle, the Oberoi Spa offers a variety of holistic rejuvenating treatments. An array of cardiovascular equipment and free weights can be found in the resort's fitness tent. Guests can also take a dip in a crocodile-free outdoor heated pool. Oberoi Vanyavilas is a luxury jungle resort. Guests used to "roughing it" will find that no comfort is spared. The resort's main building recreates the glory of a royal hunting palace with hand-painted, gilded frescoes,murals of elephants and peacocks. Dining choices are varied. The hotel's Dining Room and Inner Courtyard specializes in Asian and continental cuisine: Indian kebabs, curries, game food, rustic stews, pot roasts and homemade ice creams. Aristocracy from the British Raj would feel at home in the hotel's bar - where guests can enjoy cigars, champagne, sparkling wines - and Scotch malts. Air-conditioned luxury tents are set among lemon and mango trees by a carp-filled lake. Each of the 25 luxury tents are 790 square feet in size. All have private gardens and an outside sun-deck. The tents feature four-poster king beds, freestanding rolltop baths and separate showers. All the tents have wooden floors and embroidered interior canopies. Guests will find a DVD player and mini bar in each tent.
