Like many Leicester hotels, this establishment has a long history. The Kirby Castle, located next to Castle Hotel Leicester, is a significant part of that history. The more modern attractions in Leicester, including the shops and restaurants located at the city center, are also easily reached from this establishment. Guests of Castle Hotel Leicester may use the East Midlands International Airport. It is approximately 30 miles outside the city and is accessible via an express bus line. The bus is called the “Airbus” and it departs from the city center. Despite its historical roots, Castle Hotel Leicester provides accommodations with modern amenities. There are televisions, tea and coffeemakers and en suite bathrooms in all of the lodgings. The hotel also offers non-smoking rooms. This hotel was originally a farm house, which was built early in the 17th century. The farmhouse was originally attached to the castle by secret underground passages, one of which was finally discovered in the mid-1970s. There is a restaurant at Castle Hotel Leicester, as well as banqueting facilities.
