Originally built in 1763 as a farm dwelling the property has recently undergone a dramatic and stunning refurbishment under the stewardship of its new owners, experienced restaurateurs, Richard and Sherry Martin, who purchased the property in July 2007.The guest accommodation facilities are recognised as the best available in the Sandwich and Deal area. The pretty courtyard setting within the grounds provide individual accommodation arranged in attractive converted stables offering private parking for guests. The finer points of modern hospitality are not overlooked; all rooms are fully en-suite and boast state-of-the-art digital flat screen entertainment systems and wireless broadband internet is complimentary to all guests. The hotel's restaurant Samphire is draws much critical acclaim. Officially opened in February 2008 by Aldo Zilli; TV chef, author and bon viveur, Samphire restaurant offers cooked to order food in relaxing surroundings. 2011 Open Championship venue Royal St. Georges at Sandwich Bay, (along with Royal Cinque Ports and Princes) are all within a very short drive of The Blazing Donkey. We are the perfect base for golfers wishing to test their skills on these world-class courses.
