Apraksts
Come to the Tambopata Research Center for an unrivaled experience of Peru’s pristine Amazonian forests. This eco-friendly Tambopata lodge is located in the Tambopata-Candamo National Reserve, near the world’s largest macaw clay lick and Bahuaja-Sonene National Park. Tambopata Research Center Lodge is a rustic but comfortable 18-room lodge in a half-hectare/1.2 acre clearing in the middle of the uninhabited portion of the Tambopata-Candamo National Reserve. To get there, you need to fly from Lima or Cusco to Puerto Maldonado, then be transported by truck to the Infierno River Port. There you board the research center’s boats for a 2 hour, 30 minute trip upriver to Refugio Amazonas, followed by a 4 hour trip upriver to the lodge. Located near the Tambopata River, the lodge is approx. 500 metres/550 yards from a section of the riverbank where dozens of macaws and hundreds of parrots congregate almost every morning. Besides colourful macaws, visitors often see dusky-headed titi, brown capuchin, howler and spider monkeys, capybara, caiman, and agouti. Popular activities include taking a 30-minute hike to an elevated boardwalk and tower that allow you to observe the macaws at eye level as they fly in and out of their nests; sea kayaking; canopy climbing; and visiting the Japipi Butterfly Farm.
