Reopened in March of 2011, the Strandhotel Achtert Diek is a charming hotel offering rich breakfast buffets, a dining room, a cosy bar, an inviting sunny terrace to relax and its own sauna. It is located in the main commercial area of this car-free island. If you request it in advance, the hotel staff can provide transportation for your luggage from the station of the small railway that connects the town with the ferry port. Hire of bicycles, to be delivered to you upon your arrival at the train station, can also be arranged if requested in advance. Guests can use the hotel’s laundry facilities for a nominal fee. The Strandhotel Achtert Diek is located in the main town on the island of Langeoog, part of the Lower Saxon Wadden Sea National Park (Nationalpark Niedersachsisches Wattenmeer in German), a great place for biking, hiking and watching wildlife such as seals, sea lions and migrating birds. The hotel is right on one of the main routes for the Langeoog Nordic Walking Park. In case of poor weather, there’s the Langeoog Seawater Park and Pool (Meerwasser Freizeit und Erlebnisbad), an indoor water park and spa, within 1.2 km/0.7 mile of the hotel. The Strandhotel Achtert Diek regularly organizes activities for guests such as bike tours, catamaran trips, pony rides for children and bird watching excursions.
