Taormina is an ancient city, with Greek and Roman ruins and buildings, ancient churches, and shops and restaurants as well. The Sole Castello is located on the outskirts of the city, and the city center is 1.5 km away. Two footpaths lead to it, or one can take a bus. The A18 motorway connects Messina in the north to Catania in the south, with Taormina in between, for those guests driving to the Sole Castello. The airport is named Fontanarossa and is in Catania, an hour’s drive away. Taormina is on the Messina-Catania line, with trains traveling frequently in both directions. All 54 rooms in the Sole Castello have air-conditioning and central heating. They have private bathrooms with showers and a hairdryer. There is a direct dial telephone, a radio, and satellite television. Some rooms have a terrace. The Sole Castello was renovated in 2001. The reception desk is open 24 hours a day. There is an on-site restaurant, bar, a television room, and an outdoor swimming pool. There is a reading room, a piano bar, and meeting room facilities.
