Location This charming hotel and spa complex is situated just a 20-minute drive from the city centre of Cologne. Access to public transport is roughly 3 km from the hotel. Nearby airports include Cologne Bonn Airport, at approximately 15 km, and Dusseldorf International Airport, at around 45 km, whilst Frankfurt International Airport is some 170 km away. Facilities The residence ranks amongst the best luxury hotels in Germany. Guests will sense straight away on arrival what an extraordinary place the castle hotel is. This enchanting hotel, with its imposing facade entwined in vines, is situated in the middle of an enormous private park. With 52 guestrooms on offer, the air-conditioned hotel features a lobby with 24-hour reception and check-out service, hotel safe, currency exchange facilities, a cloakroom and lift access. Rooms The hotel is an architectural masterpiece, somewhat meandering and mysterious, yet bright and generous. The entire hotel is simply unique, as are the guestrooms. Whether residing in the romantic Tower Suite, the rustic Hunter's Suite or in a refined single room, they all are individually furnished in the English country manor style. Each room is a setting of aristocratic comfort, characterised by antiques and fine fabrics. The en suite bathrooms in all accommodation are fitted with a shower, bath and hairdryer. Each room is equipped with double or king-size beds, direct dial telephone, satellite/cable TV, radio, Internet access, safe, minibar and tea and coffee making facilities as standard. The air conditioning and heating are individually regulated to ensure guests' comfort. Sports/Entertainment This is one of the premiere locations for beauty and spa treatments amongst the entire Althoff Hotel Collection. The picturesque setting of the spa area, with its view of the outdoors from every compartment, is the ideal spot to withdraw and relax. The Bergisch Gladbach golf course is located some 3 km from the hotel. Meals The gourmet restaurant Dieter Muller is regarded as one of the 5 best restaurants in Germany. In spring 2008, Nils Henkel (long-time apprentice of Dieter Muller) took over as head chef. The Coq au Vin, supervised by head chef Andre Brauner, is situated in the cellar, and in the summer food is served on the castle terrace. Here, authentic French Brasserie cuisine with German influences awaits guests. Delicious menus and dishes can be enjoyed in this unembellished, comfortable Mediterranean setting.
