The Hotel Villa San Giorgio is a picturesque villa in the traditional village of Kastraki, a suburb of the larger town of Kalambaka (sometimes Anglicized as Kalabaka). The accommodations consist of 11 guest rooms and 2 apartments located on 3 levels: the basement, the raised ground floor, and the first floor. Hotel guests are invited to use the communal kitchen, the living room, the lobby with fireplace, the TV room, and the private parking area. The reception desk is open 24 hours a day, and fax and internet services are available. The hotel is located 100 metres/110 yards from the central square of Kastraki, in close proximity to both the stone towers of Meteora and the San Giorgio Mandilas Forest. Several restaurants are located in Kastraki, with more complete tourist services in the nearby town of Kalambaka. A difficult hike or a brief taxi ride takes you up to the 6 historic Eastern Orthodox monasteries of Meteora: the Monastery of Great Meteoron (Megalou Meteorou); the Monastery of Varlaam; the Monastery of Saint Barbara (Agias Varvaras Rousanou); the small Monastery of Saint Nickolas Anapausas (Agiou Nikolaou); the Monastery of the Holy Trinity (Agias Triados); and the Monastery of Saint Stephen (Agiou Stefanou), for a time a residence for nuns.
