Fulda, located only one hour from Frankfurt`s International airport, is an old episcopal city, beautifully located in the valley of the Fulda river. The prince-bishops of the 18th century created a number of baroque architectural jewels that have endured over the centuries. The baroque palace, former residence of the Prince-Bishops of Fulda, houses now a museum, the tourist office and city-government offices. Noteworthy are the Imperial Hall, the Princes` Hall and the Hall of Mirrors of the palace. Between the palace and the Orangery one finds the Schlossgarten. To the west of the Orangery one finds the Paulus` gate and very close by the 1200 year old St. Michael`s church. All these points are in walking distance from the prestigious yet charming Hotel Goldener Karpfen.
