The River Chase Inn Columbus hotel is located in the historical city of Columbus, Mississippi, founded in 1821. Located in Lowndes County along the Tombigbee River, and is also considered the administrative center for the " Golden Triangle region. Situated 150 mile northeast of Jackson, 94 miles north of Meridian, and 64 miles south of Tupelo. The River Chase Inn Columbus is the perfect destination for anyone who appreciates classic southern architecture, good food, and a friendly atmosphere. The city's Market Street Festival draws 40,000 visitors annually, along with some of the other yearly events including Grilling on the River, Spring Pilgrimage, Juneteenth Celebration, Seventh Avenue Heritage Festival, Roast'N Boast, Trash & Treasures along the Tenn-Tom and the Wassail Fest. Columbus's location on the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway makes it ideal for fishing, and other outdoor water recreation. The town also plays host to a variety of fishing tournaments and wake board competitions on the 9,000 acres of fresh water, Columbus Lake. The newly opened Riverwalk offers bird watching, jogging, beautiful scenery for relaxing. In addition to being renowned for historic buildings and recreational events, Columbus is also home to the Historic "W" Mississippi University for Women. The city is also known for housing the Columbus Air Force Base ( CAFB) since World War ll. Founded as a flight training school, it is one of four basic Air Force training bases in the United States, and is prized as only one where regular flight conditions may be experienced. Columbus is also home to the Golden Triangle Airport, Steel Corr mill, American Eurocopter Factory and the Aurora Flight Sciences.
