Located in the village of Faja da Ovelha on the island’s western coast, these charming Madeira apartments have outstanding views out over the Atlantic Ocean. Quinta de Sao Lourenco consists of 4 houses that have been individually decorated. Guests share use of the gardens, the barbecue area, and the outdoor swimming pool overlooking the ocean. Breakfast foods, included in the price, are bought to the kitchen of each house every morning. From the village of Sao Lourenco, you can walk 1 km/0.6 mile down a narrow, stone-paved path to the ocean shore at Paul do Mar. The beach at Paul do Mar has been one of the venues for the World Surfing Championships and is also an excellent spot for whale-watching. From the harbour, you can walk along the trail called the Caminho Real do Paul do Mar (Royal Path of Paul do Mar) up to the village of Prazeres in about 80 minutes, seeing waterfalls along the way. Other attractions include the 16th century Sao Lourenco chapel, the parish church of Sao Joao Batista, and the lookout point at Massapez. Quinta de Sao Lourenco is approx. 60 km/37.3 miles from Funchal and 75 km/46.6 miles from the Madeira Airport (also called Funchal Airport or Santa Catarina Airport).
