The Cala del Sol beach hotel is situated in Las Playitas, on the steeper coastline at the south east of the bay. The 900m long, smooth sandy beach is ideal for relaxation and play, and the sea is an inviting place to swim. Fuerteventura airport lies around 35 km away. Opened in 2006, this hotel is ideal for guests seeking peace and relaxation, and offers exceptional views of the beach, the sea, and the surrounding area. It comprises a 2-storey main building and a 3-storey annexe, with a total of 223 rooms of which 69 are suites. From the main building, at the foot of a hill, a small sloping lift takes guests to the other buildings which are arranged like a village. The lobby houses a 24-hour reception desk, a currency exchange facility, and a safe. Further facilities include a supermarket with a wide range of products and an integrated newspaper stand, a hairdresser's salon, a bar, a nightclub, an auditorium, a games room, a conference room, a public Internet connection, and a restaurant. Younger guests may participate in the kids' club activity programme. In addition, there is a self-service launderette with a drying machine. The reception can organise car hire, excursions etc. A doctor on call and parking spaces complete the offerings. The hotel has direct access to the sea and extensive gardens. The rooms feature as standard a terrace or balcony, centrally controlled air conditioning, an Internet connection (payment), a telephone, satellite and pay TV (flat screen TV), a minibar (payment), a hire safe (payment), an en suite bathroom with a separate shower, beach towels (payment at the reception), dressing gowns (only in the junior suites), and a hairdryer. In the afternoons there are cookery demonstrations.
