The Planters Inn is located a half mile from the Charleston Harbor and downtown historic district, and is just a mile from the aquarium. Charles Towne Landing State Park & Historic Site is just five miles away, which is the site of the first European settlement in South Carolina. The park offers programs that investigate Native American archaeology, African-American history, and women’s history. The Charleston International Airport is the closest major airport to the Planters Inn. The guestrooms at the Planters Inn offer handcrafted four-poster beds, Italian marble bathrooms, and 10 foot ceilings. The Planters Inn was built in 1844 and features Baker Furniture’s historic Charleston furnishings. The on-site restaurant, the Peninsula Grill, is a favorite with locals. It serves breakfast and dinner, including steaks and seafood. Early reservations are recommended for the restaurant. The executive chef, Robert Carter, has helped make the Peninsula Grill a top-rated dining opportunity.
