Set in the rich antiquity of the deep southern land, Peppers Bluewater Resort is only two and a half hours drive from Christchurch, with the Mount Cook National Park on your doorstep. Standing at an altitude of 700m the lake derives its brilliant turquoise hue from the finely ground rock particles in the water. With panoramic views on towards the glistening foothills of the Southern Alps, Lake Tekapo is also a place of mythology and rich high country history. Peppers Bluewater Resort offers 66 villas in studio, one and two bedrooms with design inspired by the lake landscape and reflecting the textures, materials and colours of the region. The property also has an exclusive lodge which houses the resort bar and restaurant. Recreational opportunities are numerous. Ski fields abound with Lake Tekapo's Round Hill Ski field just a short drive from Bluewater Resort, while fishing, mountain biking, kayaking, hunting, horse-riding and tramping at all levels are popular year-round activities. Tekapo's open terrain particularly lends itself to mountain biking and the south eastern corner of Lake Tekapo has been designated a passive area for non-motorized water-sports. Sitting at the water's edge, soaking up the sun, the sheer beauty of this magnificent lake and the surrounding countryside is utterly captivating. Rakinui Restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner serving a wide selection of international standard cuisine and hearty local fare – all to be enjoyed with spectacular views across Lake Tekapo. Rakinui Bar is open for drinks and snacks daily where guests can unwind among comfortable sofas and intimate spaces.
