The Parador de Santillana Gil Blas hotel is located in the heart of Santillana del Mar, a small Cantabrian town whose origins date back to the 8th Century. Altamira Museum and Santillana Zoo can both be found just a 15-minute walk away. The recent past of this 17th/18th Century ancestral mansion is closely linked to the arts and literature. The main door leads to bright, welcoming common rooms with wooden floors and ornamental, traditional-style furniture and dcor. The air-conditioned hotel offers 28 rooms in total and offers a lobby with 24-hour reception, a hotel safe, currency exchange facility and lift access. A caf, bar, restaurant, TV room and Internet access all feature. Room and laundry services are also offered. Parking facilities are available to guests arriving by car. Rooms come with large windows and balconies overlooking the garden, creating an idyllic rural setting. An en suite bathroom, hairdryer, direct dial telephone, satellite/cable TV, Internet access, minibar and a double bed come as standard. The rooms also offer individually adjustable air conditioning, central heating and a safe deposit box. The dining room offers guests a wide variety of dishes prepared using local produce. Some of most representative dishes are the highland and Libana stews "cocido montas", hake, and typical desserts such as "sobao" and "quesada pasiega". The town is very small, only 3 streets, an the Parador is in the main square, int the center. The access is restinged to the cars, but guests can do it.
