Sumptuous sofas and a deliciously warm log-burner, cosy towelling bathrobes and steamy scented hot baths, Molten Brown, fine food and fabulous four-posters. Old Park house has a long and convoluted history, which can be traced back to as early as the 1480’s. It witnessed the Abbey falling victim to Henry VIII’s enforced closures in the 1530’s and became the ancient family mansion of the Hill’s of Attingham. Having survived the Great Good Friday Fire that ravaged Abbey Foregate in 1774, the house evolved from a private residence to an Inn from as early as the 1720’s. Located on Old Abbey Foregate and beside Horsefair, one of the oldest markets of the town, Old Park House would have been the first prominent building on the approach into Shrewsbury from London. Fantastic original oak staircases, large fireplaces and timber frames, it is one of Shrewsbury’s most unique buildings.
