Everything has been thought for the pleasure of sweet idleness, just listen to the sound of the ciccadas. Northern Provence is an exciting area to explore. It is dominated by Mont Ventoux, whose white scree makes it look snowcapped even in summer, and the vast nature park of Luberon. Picturesque villages perch atop the rugged foothills, the most famous of which is Gordes. Nearby is a bizarre village made up of 'bories' - beehive dwellings constructed of dry stone since neolithic times and inhabited until early last (20th) century.
