On the outskirts of the town of Amboise, Le Choiseul is composed of three residences (18th century) whose rooms have a view over the gardens and the Loire. Le Choiseul is luxury hotel in an 18th-century residence set within Italianate terraced gardens overlooking the River Loire, and nestled below the ramparts of the great Chateau d'Amboise in the Loire Valley. Historically, Chateau d'Amboise is one of the most important of the great Loire chateaux. It was the home of kings, visited by Catherine de Medici and said to be the burial place of Leonardo da Vinci. Le Choiseul is a charming and friendly hotel with a family atmosphere. Located on the outskirts of the town of Amboise, the hotel is the perfect base from which to discover the many Loire chateaux including the Chateaux of Chenonceaux, Chaumont, Loches, and Blois. The rooms at Le Choiseul are cheerfully appointed, and the scented terraces and gardens provide an unexpected intimacy that reminds one of home. The cuisine is light and typical of the Loire region, in tune with the delicious local Touraine wines. Unlike Le Choiseul's illustrious neighbours, the scale of the hotel is human, the pace more gentle and the manner much more informal. It is an altogether delightful encounter. Le Choiseul is just a five-minute walk from Chateau d'Amboise, and Le Clos Luce, where Leonardo da Vinci spent the last three years of his life, is just a ten-minute walk away from the hotel. The beautiful Chateau de Chenonceau that spans the River Cher is just seven miles away, Chateau de Chaumont, overlooking the river Loire is within 15 minutes of the hotel, while Chateau de Blois with its diverse architectural styles, is a 30-minute drive. Numerous other chateaux are within easy access including Chateau de Chambord, Chateau of Cheverny and Chateau de Willandry.
