The Karos is a spa hotel with thermal pools situated in the bathing resort of Zalakaros in southwest Hungary, 20 kilometres from the nature reserve of Lake Balaton. This five-floor hotel features 223 air-conditioned guestrooms, all of which open onto balconies and include satellite television, direct-dial phones, minibars and wireless Internet access. Bathrooms come with hair dryers, bathrobes and bathtubs or showers. After a buffet breakfast, guests can head to the spa centre to indulge in a range of relaxing and invigorating treatments. Facilities include thermal pools, sauna, bio- sauna, steam bath, spa tub, heated indoor pool and ice chamber. There is also an outdoor swimming pool and an adventure pool. Spa treatments include massage, facials, hydrotherapy and oxygen treatments. Healthy food and vitamin drinks are offered at the ship-shaped bar and guests can sample traditional and modern Hungarian specialities in the restaurant. A programme of live Hungarian music, gypsy bands and other entertainment is performed at the hotel. The hotel also provides a kids' club and childcare for children, as well as a playground and kid's pool. Active guests can work out in the gymnasium and fitness room where classes include aerobics, Pilates and yoga; specialised programmes are available from professional fitness experts. Multilingual staff can provide tour assistance and arrange sightseeing trips to nearby Nagykanizsa, as well as wine tasting and bird watching excursions. The area has plenty of countryside where guests can enjoy horse riding and hiking excursions, and there is a special protected bird watching area within one kilometre. Lake Balaton (20 kilometres away) has cycle tracks and numerous opportunities for walking, bird watching, sailing, wind surfing and swimming. Bicycles can be hired at the hotel. Balaton Keszthely Airport is 17 kilometres away, around 20 minutes by car. Hotel is located in the heart of the spa town Zalakaros and close Sarmellek airport and Lake Balaton. Central 1 kms to city centre 17 kms to the nearest airport (sarmellek) 7 km to the nearest station (zalakomar) 5 minute walk to the nearest bus stop
