The Izaak Walton Inn can be found in Essex, bordering Glacier National Park. There are cross-country ski trails and guided back-ski tours for visitors. The Amtrak's Empire Building is en route to the hotel with the only Flagstop at Essex. Accommodations include 33 lodge rooms, 6 cabins with kitchen & bathroom, and 4 cabooses with propane grills overlooking the tracks. The Izaak Walton Inn also has a restored locomotive, the GN 441, furnished with a king-sized bed, a leather sofa-sleeper, a stone fireplace, 46-inch LCD TV, a jetted tub and a complete kitchen. The only resort in the area open all year, the family-owned Izaak Walton Inn with its Swiss-style charm has full service dining and a gift shop carrying Great Northern Railroad dinnerware reproductions. It also has an outdoor pavilion, meetings rooms, a bar & lounge and a restaurant serving complete meals with daily specials. Complimentary WIFI access is provided at the bar.
