The Imperial hotel Malta is located within 5 minutes of both the sea and the town of Sliema, which offers bars, restaurants and a great shopping centre. Nearby guests can also experience some great views of the Marsamxett Harbour, with its picturesque Manoel Island and an imposing Valletta as a backdrop. The town of Mdina can be reached in 40 minutes by public transport. The nearest public transport connection is 3 m from the hotel and Malta International Airport is just 10 km away. The hotel is a jewel of classical and historical value, and has a rich history dating back to the golden era of the 19th Century. Established in 1865 and fully renovated in 2006, the hotel has an architectural influence of the high Victorian period. At that time Malta was a British colony and many people started imitating British lifestyles, including building stately homes according to British architectural design. This air-conditioned hotel offers 95 comfortable and spacious bedrooms and provides guests facilities including a reception lobby with 24-reception, a currency exchange service, a cloakroom, lift access, and a bar, caf and restaurant. A games room, a TV room, conference facilities, Internet access, a garage and parking facilities, including space for storing bicycles, also feature. For an additional fee guests can use the hotel's room and laundry services and the WLAN Internet connection. The rooms have been especially designed for the traveller who enjoys resting after a full day of activities. All rooms are furnished with an en suite bathroom with a bathtub, a hairdryer, air-conditioning and heating units which can be individually regulated, a direct dial telephone, a radio and satellite/cable TV. Tea and coffee making facilities, a refrigerator, an iron and ironing board, double beds and a hire safe also feature. Most rooms have a lovely view of the hotel's internal gardens and swimming pool, or else overlook the streets of Sliema. The hotel provides a music performance every evening. In addition guests can use the outdoor swimming pool and the children's pool. There is also a poolside snack bar, as well as sun loungers and parasols. The hotel also provides use of a solarium. For an additional fee, guests can enjoy a massage treatment or have a game of table tennis or pool. Breakfast is a lavish continental breakfast buffet while lunch and dinner are served as a 3-course meal selected from the menu.
