Hotellerie du Val d’Or is a three-star Mercurey, France hotel that was once a coaching inn, established in 1816. It became a hotel in 1962, and has since been renovated and modernized to ensure its guests a comfortable stay. The hotel’s warm interior features yellow walls and a homey feel that’s welcoming after a long day of travel. The covered terrace offers a great place to relax with a good book or a glass of wine from the region’s vineyards. And the hotel’s critically acclaimed restaurant serves mouth-watering regional and creative cuisine, and features an extensive wine list. For activities beyond the hotel, four golf courses lie within a half hour; or, you can rent a bike or set out on foot to explore the beautiful landscape, along with its old churches and castles. If you’d like to go horseback riding, a riding center is just ten minutes from the hotel. For an even more romantic adventure, take a hot-air balloon ride above the vineyards and see the region by air.
