Baudelaire settled here from 1856 to 1858 while writing Les Fleurs du Mal and Wagner resided here while completing his opera The Mastersingers of Nuremberg. Many other public figures such as Pissaro, Oscar Wilde, Sibelius, Hemingway, Rainer Maria Rilke, Philippe Soupault, Pierre Reverdy and Antoine Blondin were among the famous guests of the Hotel du Quai Voltaire.
