Hotel Du Pont-Veiux is ideally located to visit the nagnificent city of Carcassonne. At the feet of the city walls. The crusade against the Albigensians, or Cathars, began in 1209 in Occitan country. Its aim was to destroy the Cathar heresy in order to maintain the unity of the Roman Catholic Church. To defend themselves against the crusaders, the 13th-century heretics took refuge in many of the region's castles whose spectacular ruins rear up on the rocky mountain summits. Hotel du Pont Vieux is ideally located at a two minute walk from the medieval city. The best view onto the medieval city from a two-star hotel. Excellent value for the money. Close to museum and castle Comtal. The congenial entry takes you to the buckwheat-stairs that leads to the small lounge and the rustic rooms.
