The rooms are decorated in a traditional 18th century style, reflecting the hotel’s stunning historic beauty. The structure’s strategic position dominates the whole Vallo di Diano, due to the fact that the ancient tower used to be part of Atena Lucana’s defense system. Each room has a wonderful panoramic view over the whole town. The great location means that all of the region’s attractions are within easy reach. The sophisticated, high quality restaurant consists of a series of separate intimate dining rooms and the fine cuisine includes traditional local specialities, authentic Italian food and international classics. There has been a fortification on this site since pre-Roman times. The hotel’s current structure dates back to the 18th century, when the tower formed part of the town’s defences. Some of the building’s beautiful ancient features are still visible today, including original stone arches and doorways. After the middle ages, the fortification was inhabited by clergymen, in particular Don Gabriele Volpe and Don Antonio Murano, a clergyman in Atena in the second half of the 18th century. The old family chapel still survives to this day and the ancient stairway is also still a carefully preserved architectural feature. This property has provided all content and is solely responsible for its accuracy.
