The Villa Retiro Resort hotel is located in the village of Xerta, in the immediate vicinity of the centre and links to the public transport network. A range of shops, restaurants, and bars can be found around 500m from the hotel, while the beach is located around 30 km away. Guests will reach Reus airport in some 80 km, with Barcelona airport approximately 200 km away. Constructed in 1882 and renovated in 2006, this luxury hotel comprises a total of nine rooms, of which two are suites, spread across two buildings. It was designed by the architect Josep Fontser I Mestres, mentor of the world-famous Anton Gaud, in a modern colonial style. The hotel is surrounded by sprawling gardens with waterfalls, lakes, and small streams, and is altogether a joy to the senses. The lobby area offers a 24-hour reception, a hotel safe, a cloakroom, and a currency exchange counter. Additional facilities at this air-conditioned establishment include a cafe, a hairdresser, a bar, and a restaurant with highchairs available for children. Moreover, there are conference facilities in addition to a public Internet connection with W-LAN access. Room and laundry services are also available along with medical assistance (charges apply). The hotel additionally offers a bicycle hire and storage service as well as parking (charges apply) and a garage (charges apply) for those arriving by car. The rooms all come with an en suite bathroom with a hairdryer. Further fittings include a direct dial telephone, satellite/ cable TV, a radio, a hi-fi, and an Internet connection. In addition, a minibar, individually adjustable heating and air conditioning, a hire safe, and either a balcony or terrace are also provided in all accommodation units as standard. In the hotel grounds there is a swimming pool with a poolside snack bar and sun loungers and parasols laid out ready for use. Guests may also pay a visit to the hotel's spa area, which has a sauna, a Jacuzzi, a steam room, and also offers massages (charges apply). Sports enthusiasts may enjoy a work-out in the gym (charges apply), go horse-riding, or try cycling and mountain biking. A variety of further activities can be undertaken in the surrounding area, such as hiking, bungee jumping, and quad biking. Guests may serve themselves at the breakfast buffet. At lunchtime and in the evenings, guests may select dishes from a set menu and in the evenings there is also an la carte menu available to choose from. Special dietary requirements may be catered for. Guests may book either a half-board or full-board stay. Once in Xerta, follow the Avenida Terres de l'Ebre at the second junction, and at the end of the road turn right in the direction of Pauls.
