Simplicity, peace and pleasure: an inner-city country house Just as Jean-Franois Pige loves greeting customers at the restaurant as if it were his own home, the fifteen rooms of the Htel Thoumieux perfectly capture the comfort and soul of the contemporary inn of which he has always dreamed. The architect India Mahdavi strove to give each room a unique and intimate feel - a far cry from the standardised decor of many luxury hotels. From the Art Deco wallpaper to the furniture which varies between leather, lacquered wood, marble and bamboo, from the opulent bed linen to the heavy velvet curtains and from the elegant tiling in the bathrooms to the original light fittings, all combine to create a feeling of being cosseted, swathed in soothing charm. The most minute attention has been paid to thousands of details: exquisite bathroom fittings by Devon & Devon, Aesop skin care and bath gels, towel warmer, Illy coffee machine, a wellstocked mini bar... even the coathangers are distinctive. The comfortable rooms are also no stranger to high-technology, with a flat screen TV with all major international channels, an iPad for the directory and an iHome for your wake-up call. The motif running throughout the Thoumieux world, from the brasserie to the hotel, is the graphic touch of the M / M duo on every floor - from the door handles and stationery to the cake-boxes - a distinctive stamp in a magical universe.
