Other Petropolis attractions include the Cathedral of Saint Peter of Alcantara, the Crystal Palace, and the unusual house of Alberto Santos-Dumont, a Brazilian early pioneer of aviation. Petropolis is also home to the National Laboratory for Scientific Computing (LNCC) and the Catholic University of Petropolis. The hotel is a short drive from Serra dos Orgaos National Park and approx. 65 km/40.4 miles from the city centre of Rio de Janeiro.
