The Hotel Rollan de By is a recently renovated 18th century chartreuse, or Carthusian monastery. Its present owner was a renowned interior designer, trained at the prestigious Ecole Boulle art school in Paris, before devoting himself to the creation of fine wines. He has decorated the 6 guest accommodations in tones of pearl gray and taupe, giving them a quiet, elegant atmosphere. A luxurious breakfast is served each morning in the tea room. The staff provides turndown service and a daily winery tour and wine tasting. This hotel is in an 18th century building surrounded by tree-filled gardens and vineyards. It is a half-hour drive from the beautiful Cote d’Argent (Silver Coast) beaches at Vendays-Montalivet. The tallest sand dune in Europe, called the Great Dune of Pyla or Pilat, is to the south at La Teste-de-Buch. The Hotel Rollan de By is approx. 75 km/46.6 miles north of the city of Bordeaux.
