Cuevas is a family-run 2 star hotel in Santillana del Mar, Spain and it represents the perfect lodging for all those staying in town for a short visit or holidays. Thanks to the hotel's facilities, Cuevas can accommodate people travelling on their own or with family. Hotel Cuevas is set in a modern building, surrounded by a large garden with pine trees and its budget accommodation in Cantabria comprises also a restaurant serving typical regional dishes and a bar/cafeteria with traditional Spanish features. Santillana del Mar is a an historical medieval town, famous especially for Altamira Caves, to the West of Santander, one of the region's most precious assets, where huge multi-coloured paintings dating back 15,000 years adorn the ceilings. Access to the caves is severely restricted these days, but copies of the paintings can be admired at the national museum of Santillana del Mar. At about 25 km there is Santander, Cantabria's capital, where there is plenty to see in terms of historical sites, and where the regional international airport is located. Lovers of nature, wildlife and adventure sports come from all four corners of the globe to spend a week or two in the Picos de Europa national park which includes the highest peaks in the Cantabrian mountains. And for those who appreciate architecture, Comillas is a must-see because it was a former summer residence of the Spanish royals, and its decorated building is one of the few outside Catalonia to be designed by the great Spanish architect Antoni Gaudi. Cuevas offers free parking and free Internet access in the lobby area.
