Location This upmarket hotel is located beside the inviting local beach, less than 1 km from the Eastern National Park that is filled with wonderful tropical flora and fauna. The fishing village of Bayahibe where guests will discover many bars and restaurants typical of the Dominican Republic is approximately 7 km away. It is a short 30-minute drive to the artists' village of Altos de Chavon as is La Romana International Airport. Facilities Built in 1999, this Mexican-style hotel comprises 532 rooms spread over several 2-storey buildings and various villas that lie amidst the hotel's fabulous tropical gardens. Facilities within the complex include a foyer with a 24-hour reception desk, an Internet cafe, souvenir shops, a jeweller's store, a library, an amphitheatre and a TV room. Those seeking some pampering make pay a visit to the in-house health centre with a hairdresser's salon and there are 3 bars as well as a buffet restaurant and 2 air-conditioned a la carte restaurants to take advantage of. The hotel sports club/ nightclub is open around the clock and there is a car park and garage facilities available to those arriving by car. A kids' club caters for those aged between 4 and 12 years of age (entertainment and childcare from 9 am until 5 pm) and there is also a playground where children may let off steam. Room and laundry services round off the offerings. Rooms The comfortably furnished rooms are fully air conditioned and come fitted with an en suite bathroom with hairdryer. Facilities include a direct dial telephone, satellite/ cable TV, a minibar/ fridge (stocked with complimentary soft drinks, beer and water), an iron and ironing board, coffee and tea making facilities and a hire safe. A queen- or king-sized bed as well as a balcony/ terrace feature in each as standard. Sports/Entertainment The outdoor complex features a freshwater swimming pool with a children's pool, a sun terrace with sun loungers and parasols laid out ready for use and a pool/ snack bar. Aerobics is on offer within the hotel and there are also Latin American dance courses. Various sports may be tried out for which additional fees may apply including water ball, windsurfing, catamaran sailing and kayaking whilst PADI taster diving courses are on offer at the hotel pool and guests may participate in boat trips as well as deep-sea fishing excursions (local providers). It is possible to play tennis on one of the three sand courts (floodlighting available) as well as table tennis, basketball, beach volleyball, bocce, billiards, badminton or minigolf. Archery and horse riding are on offer and there is an in-house gym at guests' disposal. There is a daily entertainment programme for children as well as evening shows that take place in the Areito Amphitheatre. Meals The hotel features four excellent restaurants: La Piragua serves international cuisine, Rigoletto serves Italian food, El Charro serves Mexican food and there is also the Caribbean Grill restaurant. Payment American Express, MasterCard and VISA are all accepted as methods of payment. Misc. The Japanese restaurant Akeru is no longer part of the all-inclusive offer. Customers wishing to dine in the restaurant must pay a supplement. How to get there From the airport, take a left out of the parking lot onto the highway, turn right at the Bayahibe Crossing, pass by Bayahibe Town and continue straight ahead towards Dominicus until you reach the hotel.
