The hotel was conceived as a bastion for truly sustainable ecological tourism, based on the traditional local architecture and mainly using natural regional materials, such as basalt, the volcanic rock of the island. It is a five-building hotel, perched over the sea. The property is surrounded by gardens, with most of the original flora preserved. The accommodation is charming, with personalised decoration that includes restored antiques and various recuperated objects, depicting local history and culture. The hotel is located by the sea in the south of Pico Island, 5 minutes by car from Lajes do Pico, the whaling village of the Azores. Guests will find numerous restaurants, bars, shops and the bus station in the town centre, while links to the public transport network are to be found a 5-minute walk from the hotel. The nearest beach is just 500 m from the hotel, while nightlife spots are a little further afield, approximately 12 km away. Sao Joao Pequenino Park is around 10 km from the hotel.
