The Henley Park Hotel is located in the city center near the Convention Center, Chinatown and Historic Penn Quarter. Built in the Tudor Style, the Brick face is home to 119 hand-carved gargoyles. This charming Washington D. C. historic hotel was a favored home of notable Senators and Congressmen. Showcasing a stately facade of leaded, stained-glass windows and 119 grinning gargoyles- including two depicting the craftsman and his wife- the lodging struck the ideal tone for such distinguished clientele. An intimate lobby with original Mecver tile floor and woven tapestries. The stained-glass initials "T. H. " for "Tudor Hall" are still visible, above the side door of what is now the Wilkes Room. Just outside the restaurant Coeur de Lion lies the crest of Richard the Lion-Hearted, celebrating the namesake of the award-winning restaurant. Coeur de Lion, a critically acclaimed restaurant renowned among the finest in D. C.
