The Grana Barocco Art Hotel and Spa is to be found in Modica’s central piazza in front of the historic town hall, and occupies a noble palace dating from the 1600’s and of notable artistic and architectural interest, with its wrought iron ‘goose breast’ balconies, which are supported by 17th century figures, the entrance being framed with columns and masks of the period. The context of the Grana Barocco Art Hotel & Spa is therefore exceptional. Every particular has been examined in minute detail to offer the guests an unforgettable stay in a environment where the old traditions combine with modern sophisticated comforts. The Grana Barocco Art Hotel & Spa has maintained intact the atmosphere of an old noble Sicilian palazzo, from the frescoed ceilings which date from the 18th century, to the antique Sicilian furniture and the damask curtains and tapestries. The floors of the large hall are made in Modican stone (pietra pece) and with majolica inserts from Caltagirone in a style typical of the high Baroque, a beautiful example of local techniques. All the light fittings of the Hotel Grana Barocco are of Bohemian crystal. The Grana Barocco Art Hotel & Spa also offers a beautiful restaurant in the grottoes and a Spa and Health Centre – a refuge after work or a long day’s tourism. Adopting the philosophy of the Roman baths as a place to socialise, relax and above all as a healthy place to be, the Grana Barocco Hotel & Spa offers a large hydromassage bath of 4 x 2 metres, Turkish bath, sauna, mood shower, and fitness machines as well as a full range of massages, thermal and beauty treatments to help maintain the perfect psychological - physical balance.
