Hidden between the Brecon Beacons and the Black Mountains is Gliffaes Country House, one of Wales' best kept secrets. Built in 1888, the hotel has 33 acres of grounds, 23 individually decorated en-suite rooms and about 1.5 miles of fishing. The hotel's spectacular cuisine has earned them an AA rosette for fine dining 11 years in a row. Travel approx. 12 miles north on the A449 and take the A40 exit signed Abergavenny. Follow the dual carriageway (A40) for about 9 miles to the edge of Abergavenny. Follow the A40 through the centre of Abergavenny, follow signs for Brecon. From the North: Take the M6 – M5. Get off the M5 at junction 8 (M50). At the end of the M50 take the A40.
