The Ford House Retreat is centered around a historic residence constructed in 1896. Today there are 4 buildings that can provide accommodation for as many as 18 guests total at one time. The Tongue & Groove Cafe was created as a place for those staying at the guest house to enjoy breakfast in the garden, and afternoon tea can be served in the restored barn, upon request. The cakes and jams served at breakfast, which is included in the room rates, are made fresh on the property. In 2004 the Ford House Retreat was selected as the best hosted accommodation in Western Australia. Located approx. 261 km/162.1 miles from Perth and 94.8 km/58.9 miles from Bunbury, rural Bridgetown makes a great getaway from city life. Some of Bridgetown’s attractions include the Jigsaw Gallery and Museum; historic buildings that date back to before the time of the gold rush, such as the 1862 Bridgedale House; and the apple orchards at the Cidery. Some visitors enjoy kayaking from Blackwood River Park or exploring the old gravestones at Pioneer Park. Several excellent hikes start from the Eco-Cultural Discovery Centre and the Greenbushes Heritage Park in the neighbouring town of Greenbushes.
