Majestically located on the cliffs overlooking Naema Bay, Eden Rock is a boutique hotel that promises to inject a much-needed dose of character into Sharm El Sheikh's famous resort industry. Eden Rock is not simply a hotel; it is a 'concept'. Its aim is to capture the aesthetic qualities belonging to the long forgotten world of turn-of-the-century Vienna. The hotel's interiors are captivating. Klimt's bold and dramatic motifs, shown on fabrics, furniture and on the walls, are reminiscent of the strong style of the past. The contemporary furniture is designed to reflect Klimt's Art Noveau work, all the while recognizing the requirements for comfort and practically dictated by the environment in which the hotel is located. There is a keen attention to detail. Every design has been hand-painted, every tile hand-laid, and every interior planned with the specific intention of creating a haven of luxury and relaxation. This is a hotel steeped in symbolism. The repeated use of the spiral motif throughout the hotel signifies loosing track of time. It is difficult to trace the passage of a spiral from start to finish. Instead our eyes become unfocused, caught in a sort of visual trance. Eden Rock encourages its guests to loose track of time, routine and the rhythm of regular life. Other motifs used include the sun burst that reflect the energy and source of life. The fish and waves reflect the calmness of the sea. All these are intended to be: 'abstract stimuli of the elements that surround the guests'. Walking through the hotel's corridors you would be forgiven for thinking yourself in an art gallery. Every wall, corner and enclave is decorated by Klimt's paintings. And venturing outside proves to be just as much an original experience. The meticulous attention to detail continues in the beautifully crafted columns set amidst the greenery. The contrast against the stark desert views (seen over the spacious terrace with its individually designed balustrades) is bewitching. All of this is set in the midst of the cliff top and the enthralling Red Sea horizon. Eden Rock property is not merely inspired by art. It is a work of art in its own right.
