Dornoch Castle Hotel is a four star hotel in Dornoch, Sutherland, Scotland. The castle dates back to the 13th century, built as a palace for the Bishops of Caithness, and has been a hotel since 1947. The castle has amazing views of the coast, and across the Dornoch Firth to the purple hills of Ross and Cromarty beyond. Dornoch Castle is ideally situated for golfing enthusiasts and beginners alike with the famous Royal Dornoch Championship Golf Course (the third oldest golf course in the world) only a stone’s throw from the Castle. For non-golfers there is a lot of interesting things to do within the area, including playing a game of squash, shopping, or getting a massage in the village, going for a dip in the swimming pool, which is within 20 minutes at Brora, strolling through the hills or on the golden beaches. Another option is to go shooting, fishing, clay-pigeon shooting, quad biking and off road driving or on a nature trip. Guests also have the option of visiting John O'Groats, Dunnet Head, Dunrobin Castle and Castle of Mey. The hotel features a garden, two restaurants, a bar, and has wireless internet access in all the public areas.
