The Chateau de Vollore, an overhanging building belonging formerly to the Marquis de La Fayette, has been a major Auvergne landmark for hundreds of years. The 12th and 17th century architecture is deployed above an terrace enhanced by a swimming pool and a large park. Delightfully decorated with superb collections. Curious visitors - or insomniacs - may well hear the repentant sighs of Blanche de Vollore coming back to haunt her chateau, after refusing to let her leprous husband enter the building following his return from the Crusades.
