The hotel is located in the historical town of Amarante , only 60 kilometres from Porto . The Casa da Calcada has been built in the 16th century, to become one of the palaces for the count of Redondo . Amarante is one of the most important examples of the romantic archichitecture in Portugal with a very well preserved historical and monumental area. The hotel is indeed an unique charming property, since 2003 member of the Relaux and Chateaux chain . The city of Amarante is only 60 kilometres away from Porto. The building kept the original baroque style with some neo- classical elements .
