This is a resort style hotel located on the banks of the majestic Hardanger Fjord. The hotel started as a coach inn last century and has now developed into one of the premier hotels in Fjord Norway. This is a landmark fjord hotel and impressive but for some of the older rooms. The hotel is classical in style with a white facade and gabled roof. First impressions are of splendid grandeur. The actual reception desk is small, but adjoins a spacious conservatory with various lounges and seating areas looking out to the fjord. The elegant restaurant is spacious and enjoys fabulous views over the fjord. The rooms vary somewhat in size, but most are large. They also vary in style and age. Some are in very good condition, whilst some of the older ones could do with some refurbishment and look a bit old fashioned. Some twin rooms also feature unusual beds, one of which can be slid underneath the other if the room is to be used for single occupancy. All rooms are comfortable and though their styles vary they are all clean and comfortable. 1 minute walk to the nearest bus stop, 150 kms to the nearest airport (flesland).
