If you are planning on self-catering in Istanbul, check out the Blue Eye Suites. Within walking distance of Sultan Ahmed Mosque (nicknamed the Blue Mosque) and the Hagia Sophia, these Sultanahmet suites offer easy access to all the sights of Istanbul’s Old City. Blue Eye Suites is a group of 4 town house suites that can each accommodate up to 4 people. The suites are beautifully appointed, with hardwood floors. An individually controlled heating system keeps them very comfortable. Each one has a full kitchen with a stove, microwave oven, kettle, refrigerator, dishwasher, cutlery, cookware, dishware, glassware, and complimentary tea and coffee. There’s also a dining table with chairs and a living area with a couch, armchairs, and a 32-inch LCD TV with satellite channels. These town house suites are located on the west side of the Sultanahmet district, approx. a 5 minute walk from the Little Hagia Sophia (Kucuk Ayasofya Camii), a historic Eastern Orthodox church that was converted into a mosque during the time of the Ottoman Empire. Nearby is the former site of the Great Palace of Constantinople (Buyuk Saray), which was the main royal residence of the Byzantine emperors from 330 to 1081; wall and floor mosaics from the palace are displayed in the Great Palace Mosaic Museum (Buyuk Saray Mozaikleri Muzesi, often shortened to Mozaik Muzesi) near Arasta Bazaar. Blue Eye Suites is a 5 minute walk from a bus stop on the city-owned IETT system and a 10 minute walk from the Kumkapı train station on the Sirkeci-Halkalı suburban railway line.
