The Beacon is a chic hotel set on Dublin's south side, three kilometres from Dundrum town centre, and is linked to the city centre by light railway, 13 kilometers away. The 82 guestrooms have plush white interiors with specially commissioned artworks and design headboards. Modern amenities include interactive flatscreen televisions, wireless Internet, minibars, safes, and tea and coffee making facilities. Bathrooms feature Philippe Starck baths, with bathrobes, slippers, hair dryers, and designer toiletries. A contemporary restaurant decorated in beige tones with warm lighting, My Thai offers diners a variety of modern Asian dishes alongside an extensive wine list. The Crystal Bar provides a bright and airy meeting place to catch up with friends and dine al fresco during the day, while by night the bar is lit by candles. The hotel's public areas feature design elements such as glass chandeliers, designer chairs and leather and oak furniture. Guests can browse complimentary newspapers over coffee in the lobby area, where a four-poster bed provides a quirky talking point. Business guests are well catered for with five meeting rooms including audio- visual equipment and Internet access. Multilingual staff on the 24-hour front desk can provide information on local sightseeing opportunities as well as making restaurant reservations and booking excursions, and cars can be parked securely in the hotel parking facilities. The hotel is just one kilometre from Leopardstown Racecourse while central Dublin with its many attractions including Trinity College, the Guinness Storehouse, and St Stephen's Green, is 10 kilometres from the hotel. Dublin International Airport is 23 kilometres from the hotel, approximately 25 minutes by car. The Beacon hotel will be closed on 24th and 25th December 2009 and will reopen on 26th december 2009 at noon.
