Balbirnie House is situated in the village of Markinch in Fife; approximately half way between St. Andrews and Edinburgh. This wonderful Georgian mansion (built in 1777) is set within a 416 acre country estate and is widely recognised as one of Scotland's finest Grade A listed historic houses. Built in 1777, this unique country hotel has been awarded many prizes and combines pure luxury with superb services and great facilities. The wonderful Georgian house affords grounds spanning 1,600 m and is recognised as one of Scotland's A-grade historic hotels. The hotel is privately owned and run by the Russel family. The hotel offers fine food, beautiful surroundings as well as warm Scottish hospitality, creating a unique accommodation option for contemporary guests. Guests are able to enjoy the peace and quiet here, whilst escaping from the stresses and strains of everyday life. There are a total of 30 guestrooms of which 2 are suites and 1 is a wheelchair accessible room. The facilities also include a lobby with a 24-hour reception, a hotel safe, a bar, a restaurant with highchairs for children, a dining room, a conference room, public Internet access, room service and a car park. All bedrooms are individually designed and come with all modern amenities including superb en-suite facilities, Molton Brown toiletries, bath robes, direct dial telephones, flat screen TV with radio, a variety of channels, with pay movies and broadband access for laptops. Wireless technology is available in all the public areas and meeting rooms. Fine and informal dining are available daily with the option of the Orangery Restaurant or the Bistro. With mouth-watering cuisine and a wine list of over 250 specially selected wines a wonderful dining experience awaits you! Room service available 24 hours a day for those wishin a little extra privacy. The hotel is a perfect destination for those seeking either relaxation or activity. Leisure options include a leisurely stroll through the park, a morning game of golf on the course 5 minutes walk away (Balbirnie Golf Course), horse riding in the afternoon or relaxing with a book from the old library and taking it easy. There are also many other leisure options available within the grounds: golf on a challenging course, jogging paths or woodland walks for nature enthusiasts, as well as points of historical interest such as stone circles and crosses.
