The Monarch Resort hotel is serenely nestled amidst the old growth trees in Pacific Grove, California just steps from the magnificent shores of the Asilomar State Beach and Wildlife Preserve and closely surrounded by all of the other attractions of the magnificent Monterey Peninsula. The Monarch Resort is also proudly only 1.9 miles from the world-renowned Monterey Bay Aquarium. Every year over 25,000 Monarch Butterflies overwinter in the trees of Pacific Grove. The Monarch Butterflies begin arriving in October and cluster together on the pines and eucalyptus trees of the Sanctuary. Their migration to Pacific Grove is so unique and inspiring that Pacific Grove is nicknamed Butterfly Town, U.S.A. The spectacular 17 Mile Drive is a scenic route that runs from Monterey to Carmel. The most scenic section the 10 miles from the Pacific Grove Gate, located less than two miles from the Monarch Resort, to the Carmel Gate. The Monterey Peninsula is the golf mecca of the United States. Located just 1.8 miles from the Monarch Resort, both the Pebble Beach Golf Links and Spanish Bay Golf Links reign supreme over golf on the west coast. The beautiful and affordable Pacific Grove Municipal Golf Links is also located less than one half mile from the Monarch Resort. This well-manicured municipal course offers old-world charm and a links experience not available at these rates anywhere else. The Monarch Resort is just a short drive from the culturally rich and charming Carmel-by-the-Sea, usually called simply Carmel.
