The butte on which the city was built is made of an ancient, volcanic rock called tufo. The origins of the city pre-date the Romans, going back to the Etruscans and before. When you arrive, park your car in the delightful Piazza del Popolo and after checking in with us, discover the charm of this lovely and peaceful place by strolling through its streets and squares. The B/B of “La Soffitta” and “La Torre” are located in the attic of an ancient palazzo dating back to the XIV century. It is situated on the corner of the Piazza del Popolo, 200 metres from the Duomo the famous Cathedral of Orvieto , and 500 metres from the Pozzo di San Patrizio,. Everything is within easy reach, including many local shops as well as cafes, bars, and excellent local restaurants. One of Orvieto’s most appealing characteristics is that its artistic wealth is not hidden away inside museums, but displayed in the streets and squares of the town.
